The long awaited league opening matches proved to be played with a rather tricky wind, but we all had good fun even if the results proved to be a little disappointing. But as always we remember that it’s only a game and look forward to our next fixture.
Monday found the Raiders entertaining San Luis Vulcans and with several matches close enough to have gone either way. But in the end they won just one rink.
In the afternoon the Pintos were at Vistabella playing their Albatrosses and although we came away without a point, we enjoyed our first run out.
Friday found the Mustangs at San Luis playing the Lions, the general consensus was that we had an enjoyable morning with a good result. The Mustangs took 3 rinks to the lions 2 and also took the shots by 99 to 79. Irene Thomson, Bob Day and Eddie Thomson 26-11. Lesley Day, Geoff Jones and Diane Yates 16-23. Barbara Jones, Malc Sykes and Richard Lee 19-9. Ann Taylor, John Richards and Bob Taylor 23-17. Val Ryder, Judy Foley and Henry Ryder 13-19.
Meanwhile the broncos entertained Quesada Swifts and had a close match losing the overall shots by just 4 shots, taking 2 rinks to Swifts 3 rinks, a fair result. Dolly Ford, Abbott and Marion Haynes 5-20. David Baker, Gill Bartlett and Rob Clark 28-9. Tony Abbott, Pam Harris and Brian Harris 19-23. Sue Ziepe, Steve Ziepe and Dave Haynes 11-38.
