With only 2 games of the South Alicante summer trips league remaining, both our teams top their respective divisions. In div 1, Blenheims earned a useful 6-6 draw at home to San Miguel Moors, failing to win overall shots by just 3. These 3 rinks did what was required – C Highland, C Brazier, P Farrell 17-13. G Carnell, V Campbell, F Roberts 21-15. B Trinder, C Dye, T Morgan 20-13.
Twas a similar scenario for div 2 side Lancasters, who also drew their match at La Siesta, but lost overall by 4 shots. Against the Wasps, it was these ladies & gents who came up with the goods – S Heath, R Lewin, P Morgan 23-11. C Lowry, S Jakeman, K Lowry 20-11. I Everett, S Hibberd, A Reid 15-14.
In the Wednesday VCL league, our top team (Lions) had a day off, but div 2 outfit (Tigers) were in action at La Marina. This game was on a knife’s edge all the way until the very last wood had come to rest, culminating in overall shots reading 88-88.
So, with Andy Reid winning his mens singles match 21-17, Carol & Keith Lowry successful in the pairs (21-16), plus Sheena Barnes, Tony Welsh & Steve Hibberd triumphant in the trips (22-16), QBC Tigers came home with a very pleasing 7-5 victory.
