Monday 23rd saw Greenlands Gladiators playing host to Emerald Isle – Victors in the South Alicante Summer League, Hurricane division, a good match, with Greenlands winning on 2 rinks and The Isle on 3 rinks. For Greenlands Les Davies, Dee Charters-Byrne & Mick Kirby had a decisive win, beating The Isle 22 shots to 6 and Veronica Richards, Barbara & Roger Farrington won 18 shots to 11, with the other 3 rinks only dropping a total of 9 shots this gave Greenlands the overall shots advantage, so the match ended 6 points each.
This keeps Greenlands in third position in the division and only 2 points off from the leaders.
Wednesday 25th. Saw Greenlands Jasmins take on St Louis in the VCL away.
The winners were Andy Miles in singles 21-9, Sue Bosworth and Dave Morrison, pairs 18-15 and Deb Perryman, Bert Ewart and Pearl Houghton, Trips 23-18. This resulted in an 87-84 shot advantage giving the Jasmins the overall and thus the match 8 points -4. A thrilling encounter and as can be seen by the shot difference, a very close game.
The Jasmins have already won the Div and therefore promotion next year, so well done everyone.
We at Greenlands Offer prospective members a chance to come on a Saturday morning, 9.30 for 10am and join in our club morning playing for several prizes, usually drinkables, and meet and speak to our members regarding membership of our club and all it offers. The cost is 6 euros greenfee plus 1 euro entry into comp. All welcome.
