The National Men’s Singles Championships are finished, but although we can’t boast a Champion; Scott Malden won through to the quarter finals and Dave Webb went on to reach the semi finals.
It was a fascinating, close fought match, with some excellent bowling but after 2 sets it was Dave Morrison who went through to the final. Dave Webb might not have won but he played with a great spirit and a big smile on his face!! Well done to all our players & the Champion: Freddie Willey.
On Saturday, afternoon 13th we hosted a match v Team Almeria. Everything started so well; It was good to meet some new teams & as usual the matches were played in a friendly manner. Unfortunately by the time we had played 2 trial ends and were on the 5th match end, the black clouds had arrived, depositing plenty of water on the green but play continued with the thunder rumbling; finally the green was cleared when the lightning started flashing overhead. Some of our players did not have waterproofs of any kind, so walked/drove home literally dripping wet!!
