In the South Alicante league div 1, Pearls earned a good 8 points away at Greenlands Sycamores. This keeps them 2nd in the table, with 1 game left to play. Well done – B Trinder, G Kershaw, F Roberts 22-18. C Brazier, T Morgan, P Morgan 23-13. G Phillips, M France, J Prokopowycz 25-7.
Over at San Miguel, our div 2 side Diamonds came so close to earning overall shots, but lost by 72-73. Here’s the sole winning rink – S Hibberd, S Heath, T Voisey 30-8.
Rubies home match against Greenlands Chestnuts, resulted in a 6-4 victory for the hosts. This little lot did the biz – J Cleal, A Johnstone, A Reid 18-11. T Brinton, R Lewin, J Brinton 30-8.
Last week also saw the first semi-finals in QBC championships. In the mixed rinks, a win for M Highland, C Brazier, P Morgan & J Prokopowycz, means that they will play G Carnell, S Hibberd, S Heath & T Voisey in the final.
Colin Highland & Sandra Heath, will play T Morgan & J Brinton (who went to an extra end) in the final of handicap pairs.
Finally, in the 2 wood singles, J Prokopowycz will meet T Voisey (who went through on a bye) in the final.
Alas, all 3 of Friday’s Southern league matches were victims of a heavy rain storm, which promises to run for a few days although on Saturday, the gods were shining once again (well, at least it only rained a little bit!!).
This enabled 4 more championship matches to take place. In the morning, the mixed pairs saw S Hibberd & S Heath win their semi-final match, and will play G Carnell & A Linley in next weekend’s final. At the same time, the mixed trips were taking place. Going through to the final are C Highland, S & D Barnes, who will play M Highland, P Morgan & Jason P.
Dark clouds were amassing by the time the afternoon session took place, but thankfully that nasty wet stuff only lasted for 30 mins or so. Winners of men’s trips were S Hibberd, D Barnes & T Voisey, who will play G Phillips, C Brazier & Jason P in the final.
Finally, the 2 victorious ladies’ trips were I Everett, V Campbell & S Heath, along with M Highland, C Dye & L Miller.
