Monday the Raiders had a bye.
On Tuesday afternoon they played last week’s postponed match at Emerald Ile against their Neptunes, as you would have expected, the strong cold wind came into effect. But all persevered and had a good match with several rinks playing close all the way to the end.
However, in the end both teams shared the rinks at two and a half each, with the home team taking the overall shots, a good away result for the Raiders. Bill Johnston, Sheila Cox and Diane Yates 25-14. Ann Abbott, Tony Abbott and Marion Haynes 14-13. Keith Longshaw, Ann Taylor and Bob Taylor 14-18. Jean Giddings, Ron Greenstreet and Dave Giddings 9-35. Rose Passmore, Derek Barker and Mike Cox 16-16.
Wednesday morning found the Rowdies playing host to Greenlands in the winter league and had a good match against a strong team. The Rowdies ended with a good result in sharing the rinks two all though losing the overall shots, with the Rowdies being a bowler short.
On Friday morning, again a chilly windy one, where the bowls could drift either side of the desired line. But we were in the good company of Vistabella Picadores at home and enjoyed the match. Alas although the play and score was close to the end on most rinks, we took just the one rink, but as we know the score isn’t the most important aspect of the game.
